The lethality of Unbelief

Heb 3:19 says the Israelites never entered Canaan because they didn't believe.

The first thought that comes to my mind is while God was angry at Israel at mount Sinai, Moses' intercession saved the day. At Canaan's border, when the spies brought back news of the giants that lived there, giants that were famous (Anak for example), the people refused to go up because they didn't believe Canaan would be theirs. Their real problem was they didn't believe God would do it for them. They looked to their own might and compared it with the giants'. Most often when we are faced with giants that threaten our Canaan, Giants of sinfulness and fear and depression and a myriad others that so many people around us are also slaves to, its easy to think that we will never win over the giants. The problem is these giants stand in the way of Canaan, the place of rest, our eternal abode. Too many live conscious that they wont make it to heaven because of the giant of porn or addiction or depression or fear or mental instability.. the list goes on.. The reason you have never had faith to go up against those giants yet was because you pitted yourself against them. 

So many Christians are like those spies, they are amazed at and overjoyed at the grapes of Canaan.. we are happy seeing the abundance that Canaan has to offer. We are content with a sliver of its goodness, maybe that spells healing or financial breakthroughs and we testify before people, but all this happens while the giant isn't looking. When you're in a fasting prayer or maybe in a revival, someone prays over you and you get that miracle, but the Giant stands in the way of you entering and possessing Canaan. You are experiencing joy and peace but again the giant threatens your hope of heaven. Today , let me tell you stop trying to measure up to the fight and choose to fall. Only, fall before Jesus. Jude 1:5 says that "Jesus saved a people of old from Egypt" Jesus saved them from Egypt but they trusted on their own strength to enter Canaan. We trust Jesus to save us from our sickness or curse or debt but then we try to enter into heaven on our own effort. That's not ok. He who saved you from Egypt is the Only One who can get you victory over the giants and into your Canaan,  into heaven. Maybe thats where we, like Israel lack faith.

Maybe you are repenting for each time you sin or fall short. The people of Israel celebrated Yom Kippur every year. They offered sin offerings regularly and yet none of them over twenty (at the time of the disobedience of unbelief) entered Canaan. Maybe you have repented of jealousy or hate or uncontrollable anger. Have you repented for not believing in  Him to deliver you ? Because all the rest of the sins were atoned for in sacrifice but not this one sin where they didn't trust God to defeat their giants. Only those who were willing to believe (the next generation) entered Canaan. Don't live constantly unsure of your eternity. You may be enjoying the manna and the pillar's warmth and tasting Canaan's grapes while knowing in your heart you will not make it if Jesus comes today. Stop believing in part. Throw yourself at His feet. Even if you don't sense or feel anything, cry out to Him and ask Him to take you past those giants, He will and what towers over you today will be bowled over like ten pins and you will no longer have to live a facade at church but will become a witness to God's saving reality !!!!
